Pure Power Technologies LLC, Columbia, S.C., announced it will begin using the ductile iron lost foam casting process in its Waukesha, Wis., metalcasting facility this year.
Pure Power, a division of truck and engine maker Navistar, Warrenville, Ill., expects the lost foam process to give it the capability to produce near-net-shape castings without cores and save its customers machining costs, time and money.
“Adding this capability to the Pure Power portfolio will further enable growth and success,” said Rick Bacon, the company’s director of metalcasting operations. “We are excited to bring this opportunity to simultaneously reduce costs while increasing value for the customer.”
Pure Power combines research and development, engineering, manufacturing and metal casting capabilities to produce diesel power systems, advanced emissions control systems and industrial metal castings. The company operates a research and development center in Columbia and Santa Clara, Calif., a manufacturing plant in Blythewood, S.C., and metalcasting facilities in Waukesha and Indianapolis.
