New York Caster Installs Impregnation Equipment Print E-mail

Released on September 25, 2008

Aluminum metalcasting facility Oberdorfer Aluminum Casting Foundry LLC, Syracuse, N.Y., has brought in-house an impregnation process it had previously outsourced.

The metalcasting facility installed the equipment necessary to carry out the process in an effort to gain higher yields of sealed aluminum castings. The vacuum impregnation process will use a detergent-free, environmentally friendly sealant that washes easily in water. The product will be used to reduce porosity in permanent mold and nobake castings designed for the aircraft, automotive and military markets.

Oberdorfer is a subsidiary of the Advanced Metals Group, which operates several other metalcasting facilities in the U.S.
