Global diecasting conglomerate Dynacast Inc., Charlotte, N.C., recently purchased FisherCast Global Corp., Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, a manufacturer of diecast zinc and magnesium components and injected metal component assemblies, for an undisclosed amount.
Dynacast said in a press release it intends to continue operating FisherCast’s Peterborough diecasting facility without disruption throughout the transition of ownership. The purchased company also operates a manufacturing plant in the U.K.
While FisherCast recently sought legal protection due to financial difficulties, Dynacast officials see the acquisition of the organization as a natural extension of its core business. The company will operate FisherCast as a separate business unit and continue to offer its full range of products and services.
“The partnership comes at a perfect time for both companies,” said Dynacast CEO Simon Newman. “By combining the expertise and resources of both companies, we will create expanded choices in materials, equipment and technologies for all customers.”
Prior to its acquisition, FisherCast had been actively seeking a buyer that could provide it with long-term financial stability, according to Bob Espey, FisherCast president.
“Dynacast has the financial stability and operational experience to secure our success well into the future,” he said.
FisherCast produces zinc and magnesium alloy diecast components for OEMs in the automotive, industrial control, appliance, electronic component, power tool, hardware and telecom market sectors. Dynacast adds FisherCast’s Canada and U.K. operations to its 20 plants in 20 countries throughout North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
