 The 2008 Casting of the Year award was presented to Carley Foundry Inc., Blaine, Minn., for the oil tank it cast for Harley Davidson. The semi-permanent molded aluminum casting was chosen over a plastic design initially conceived by the customer. Using a unique surface finishing technique and subcontracted machining and painting, the metalcaster delivered a complete part to the customer.
