Danko Arlington Inc., Baltimore, has expanded both its metalcasting facility and machine shop operations in response to new business.
The aluminum and bronze sand caster recently purchased an adjacent 7,600-sq.-ft. building to extend its metalcasting cleaning room. The new space formerly housed the Baltimore Auto Frame Company.
The company also has increased its machine division by 6,000 sq. ft. and purchased a new horizontal boring mill with fourth-axis capability and a reach of 118 x 88 x 63-in. Danko’s previous maximum envelope was 80 x 30 x 30 in.
In its existing plant, the company has installed a new reclamation system, including a shakeout unit, two dust collectors and two 40-ton sand silos for its nobake operation. A new electric transfer/pouring ladle will be placed in service in May.
“We can now cast and completely machine some of the largest and most complex aluminum and bronze sand castings for today’s aerospace, defense and commercial applications,” said John Danko, president.
