Metaldyne, Plymouth, Mich., has awarded a $100 million contract to Citation Corp., Birmingham, Ala., for the production of cast chassis components to be used in truck and sport-utility-vehicle platforms by several global automakers.
Production of the control arms and knuckle assemblies began in the fourth quarter of 2007 at Citation’s Lufkin, Texas, facility and now are being shipped to Metaldyne’s New Castle, Ind., and Greensboro, N.C., plants. Citation’s Lufkin metalcasting facility produces ductile iron parts in the green sand process.
Metaldyne’s relationship with Citation has expanded over the past several years to become one of Citation’s largest accounts. Citation also supplies Metaldyne with a variety of engine, powertrain and other chassis components.
“We are excited Metaldyne has expanded its relationship with Citation and given us the opportunity to continue to provide them quality casting products,” said Cary Wood, Citation’s COO.
