Advanced Metals Group LLC, Malvern, Pa., recently acquired the business and assets of Ross Aluminum Castings, Sidney, Ohio.
Ross, a 300-employee aluminum casting facility, was previously controlled by a subsidiary of private equity group Charter Oaks Capital, Boston. The transaction follows Advanced Metals’ 2006 acquisition of Robinson Foundry, Alexander City, Ala., a high volume iron metalcaster.
The acquisition of Ross brings to seven the number of operating facilities the metals group has acquired since 1999. After the acquisition, Ross invested significant capital in new machining equipment, infrastructure improvements and treatment facilities.
According to the principals of Advanced Metals, the company has “a strong appetite for acquiring more [metalcasting facilities], particularly those which no longer have a strategic fit with their parent companies.”
Previous acquisitions by Advanced Metals include malleable iron caster Belcher Corp., Alexander City, Ala.; aluminum caster Oberdorfer LLC, Syracuse, N.Y.; ferrous producer Mabry Castings, Beaumont, Texas; aluminum pourer U.S. Castings, Entiat, Wash.; and Peerless Foundry LLC, Bridgeport, Conn. The facilities cast parts for the aviation, aerospace, agricultural, automotive, commercial, machinery, material handling, power generation, transportation and defense industries.
