Hayes Lemmerz Announces Sale, Closing of Facilities Print E-mail

Released on February 02, 2007

Hayes Lemmerz International Inc., Northville, Mich., announced it will sell two of its suspension facilities and close its Ferndale, Mich., technical center.

The company will sell its facilities in Bristol, Ind., and Montague, Mich., to Diversified Machine Inc., Waite Park, Minn. The closing of the Ferndale technical center will result from the relocation of the company's Automotive Components Group to its world headquarters in Northville. The company plans to sell that facility, as well.

According to a company press release, the actions were taken in an attempt to streamline Hayes Lemmerz' business in North America and focus its global resources on core businesses.

The company has signed a definitive agreement with Diversified Machine for the sale of the two suspension operations. The completion of the sale is subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of the company's lenders. The company expects to complete the sale within the next 30 days.

"This step, combined with the restructuring moves in 2006, further shows Hayes Lemmerz's commitment to being in the right core markets and focusing on the right products with the right customers," Curtis J. Clawson, president, CEO and chairman of the board said. "We remain confident about the company's future."
